Leadership Academy has started the search to create a team of energetic, fun, reliable staff for 2019!

Counselors will have the opportunity to work  at Camp Warner Park, GROW Enrichment CampCamp Bells Bend Beaman, Nashville Sail Camp, Teen Leadership Adventure and Mountain Bike Camp!

This traditional way to spend the summer has been known to change lives. Leadership Academy will provide you with training and skill to work with children of all ages, encouraging imaginative play, team building, and leadership.  We are excited to create a unique team that will be able to help campers enhance play and exploration to increase their creativity, confidence and social intelligence!

Staff Training

Mission: All our camp are summer enrichment programs that engage children in outdoor play and informal environmental education to raise awareness, foster respect and share enthusiasm for the natural environment.

Summary: Under the direction of the Camp Director and the Assistant Camp Director; Camp Counselors will be directly responsible for providing programming and a safe environment for a group of 10 campers.

Available Positions:

Camp Director - $500/week

At Leadership Academy, we believe that outdoor play and exploration increases creativity, confidence and social intelligence. We operate summer camps that get children outside to play, connects them to nature, teaches recreation skills to develop a love and affinity for the outdoors. We are hiring four seasonal directors to manage each of the summer camps in Nashville, TN.

Camp Directors develop and manage the daily operations of the day camp including program, business, risk management, camper and staff supervision, and customer service at a specific summer camp; Camp Warner Park, Camp Bells Bend Beaman, Nashville Sail Camp and GROW Enrichment Camp. Each camp has a unique program that requires a Director with a passion for & experience in that area. Camp Warner Park is unstructured, unscheduled play in Nature. Camp Bells Bend Beaman is outdoor skills, hiking, archery, outdoor cooking & gardening. Sail Camp teaches youth to sail, experience is a must and US Sailing certification is preferred. GROW Enrichment is conservation education in an outdoor learning lab.

Pre-season with the option to telecommute beginning May 1
On site beginning May 21, with ending dates as late as August 30.
Flexible ends dates depending on which camp you work at.

Starting $500/week.

Camp Counselors (Camp Warner Park, GROW Enrichement Camp & Camp Bells Bend Beaman) - $58/day

  • Under the direction of the Camp Director, Camp Counselors will be directly responsible for providing programming and a safe environment for a group of 8-12 campers.
  • Deliver a camp program that connects children with nature, fosters an attitude of conservation and ensures the program delivery in a safe and quality manner.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the campers.
  • Follow camp rules and risk management procedures to keep campers safe.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with campers, parents and staff.

$58/day

Teen Leadership Adventure Program Leader - $63/day

  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Program Leader will further the mission of Teen Leadership Adventure through the development and management of program and strategic operations. They will be directly responsible for providing supervision and a safe environment for a group of 6-8 campers.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the summer day camp including program, camper and staff supervision, and customer service.
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate a camp program that connects children with nature, fosters an attitude of conservation and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with program participants, family members, and staff; Ensure high quality customer service for parents and campers.

Mountain Bike Camp Counselor - $63/day

  • Under the direction of the professional instructor, counselor will be directly responsible for providing supervision and a safe environment for a group of 8-14 campers.
  • Be comfortable on a mountain bike, comfortable teaching and guiding children on the bicycles as needed.
  • Deliver a camp program that connects children with nature, encourages children to learn and sharpen skills even when they are uncertain, ensures the program delivery in a safe and quality manner.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the campers.
  • Follow camp rules and risk management procedures to keep campers safe.

Sail Camp Instructors - $68/day

  • Responsible for the sailing curriculum and lead teacher/coach for the campers.
  • Safety champion for their group.
  • Responsible to mentor and supervise their assigned counselors.
  • Must have US Sailing Certifications, CPR/FA and TWRA Boater’s License.
  • Must at least 18 OR have completed one full year as a sailing camp counselor and be at least 17 years old.

$68/day

Sail Camp Counselor - $63/day

  • Responsible for the supervision and safety of the campers.
  • Focus on camper engagement, helping them make friends, boosting confidence and having fun.
  • Assist in teaching sailing curriculum, especially on land lessons, on the water coaching and sailing in boats with campers.
  • Also is a mentor to Junior Counselors and leads by example to demonstrate counselor best practices.
  • Must have CPR/FA certifications, TWRA Boater’s License preferred.
  • Must have completed one full year as Junior Counselor OR be at least 17.

$63/day

Sail Camp Junior Counselor - $53/day

  • Responsible for the supervision and engagement of the campers.
  • Champion song leader, game player and craft instructor.
  • Be the person who helps the campers make friends and that they are playing games during downtimes and having fun throughout the day.
  • Be a counselor/instructor helper and sail with the campers who want/need a staff member with them.
  • Junior Counselor must must have completed two weeks of Teen Leadership Adventure @ Sail Camp and be at least 15 OR be at least 16.

$53/day

Digital Marketing Intern - $48/day

  • Must have car and valid driver’s license to travel to all camps.
  • Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Digital Marketing Intern assists in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail, web).
  • Support administrative team with daily marketing tasks.
  • Capture photos of campers participating in camp activities.
  • Upload and organize photo galleries on social media and web.

Program Assistant Camp Warner Park - $48/day

  • Under the direction of the Program Director, the Asst. Program Director will assist in the day to day operation of the camp and ensure a safe and fun program for participants and staff.  
  • Assist the Camp Director in daily operations including program, business, and customer service.
  • Assist Camp Counselors counselors in the daily camp activities by providing support in organizing materials, helping to lead program.
  • Assist camp counselors through Interacting and playing with campers at activities.
  • Help to set up and lead daily all camp game, nature sharing and awards.
  • Organize and deliver camp shirt orders.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with program participants, family members,  and staff.

Requirements:

Basic requirements: All positions

  • Must have 1-2 years experience with direct child supervision and provide references.
  • Must have some college, preferably environmental or education majors.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid training from a nationally recognized agency before staff training.
  • Preferred: 1 year camp experience.

Additional requirements: Digital Marketing Intern and Program Assistant ONLY

  • Must be proficient in computer skills and related word processing, data management, and Internet computer software including social networking sites.

Additional requirements: Mountain Bike Camp Counselor ONLY

  • Must have experience Mountain Bike Riding; be familiar with the construction of a bicycle.

Additional requirements: Sailing Instructor ONLY

  • 1-2 years sailing experience; hold required sailing certification prior to first day of camp.

Staff training for all positions will be May 28 – 29, 2019.

Counselors work MF, 7:30-4:15 OR 8:30- 5:15 most days.
