Available Positions:
Summer Camp Internship
Great for majors in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Marketing and many more. Camp Internship is flexible with focus on your major of interest or internship requirements. Internship terms agreed upon between intern and director in advance; terms of the internship cannot be changed after the start of the summer. Interns are responsible for all requirements for school credit.
Each camp has a unique program that requires interns with passion and experience in that area. See our main website for camp descriptions. All Camp Interns will be responsible for providing programming and a safe environment for a group of 8-12 campers. They will provide leadership and supervision to the campers as well as follow camp rules and risk management procedures to keep campers safe. We take time to make each camper feel a sense of belonging at our camp and in the outdoors.
College level interns will be paid a $360 stipend for each camp week worked and be paid biweekly during the season. They will also have the opportunity to work alongside leadership staff during pre and post camp season and/or work on a culminating project. Camp Counselors (Camp Twigs)
Play hard and work hard! Camp Counselors are responsible for providing programming and a safe environment for a group of 8-12 campers. Mountain Bike Camp Counselor
Teach skill and gain skills! Counselors will be directly responsible for providing supervision and a safe environment for a group of 8-14 campers. Must be comfortable on a mountain bike, comfortable teaching and guiding children on the bicycles as needed. Mountain bike camp counselors must follow camp rules and risk management procedures to keep campers safe. Counselors lead by example to promote a connection with nature and the sport of mountain biking.
Instructors will lead the skill development sessions and provide direction and leadership to counselors and campers. Instructors must complete NICA coach certification.
Mountain Bike Camp Counselors must have experience Mountain Bike Riding; be familiar with the construction of a bicycle.

Sail Camp Counselor
Directly supervise a group of 10-15 campers between ages 7-17. Working under the direction of an Instructor, the Sail Camp Counselor works to create a safe and fun educational environment.
- Focus on camper engagement, helping them make friends, boosting confidence and having fun!
- Assist in teaching sailing curriculum, especially on land lessons, on the water coaching and sailing in boats with campers
No sailing experience needed, however you must be comfortable in and around the water and on boats.

Sail Camp Instructor
Instructors develop and deliver sailing instruction, lesson plans, supervision and leadership for a group of 10-15 campers and 1-2 staff members to create a safe, fun and educational environment youth ages 7-17.
They will provide coaching and feedback to campers throughout skill session including land and on water while being encouraging and positive.
Our instructors must have US Sailing Certification, CPR, First Aid and state Boater’s License. We can help you arrange to find a class and provide reimbursement for certification after working the season for Leadership Academy.
Sailing Instructor must have 1-2 years of sailing experience.

Program Assistant and Photographer
Assist the camp staff in various administrative tasks, provide program support for counselors, prepare program supplies for activities, supervise children as needed, manage camp merchandise sales, take photos daily and post to camp’s social media and other platforms.

Assistant Director/Naturalist
Assistant directors for our nature day camps provide support to the camp director and camp staff.
This position requires driving the camp shuttle. Shift will start and end at East Park; assistant directors will be responsible for driving the camp shuttle to camp each day. Clean driving record required. At the shuttle site, the Assistant Camp Director/Naturalists will be responsible for camper check in/out, camper supervision and parent communication.
At the camp site, the Assistant Camp Director/Naturalist will be responsible for camper supervision, program setup and equipment management. The position will need to have a strong working knowledge of local flora and fauna; they will lead large and small group activities under the supervision of the Camp Director and alongside the Camp Counselors.
$16/hour; 24-32 hours/week. Must be at least 23 years old to drive the shuttle per our insurance policy.
Assistant Director Sail Camp
The Assistant Director leads the daily operations of the day camp focusing on equipment management of our fleet of boats, which includes Opti and Sunfish, various chase boats with outboard motors and several kayaks. The Assistant Director ensures the safe delivery of sailing instruction and excellent organizational management of daily camp operations for up to 60 campers ages 7-17 and a staff team of 15 instructors and counselors.
Prefer US Sailing certification.
Starting $16/hour + overtime wages.
Teen Leaders Program Coordinator
Our Teen Leaders program aims to equip those who want to be leaders in their communities with tools, ideas, and skills to impact the world around them. Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Program Coordinator will be directly responsible for providing program curriculum, camper supervision and a safe environment for a group of 8-10 teen leaders. Camp Director
Camp Directors lead, supervise and manage the daily operations of the day camp including camper and staff supervision, customer service, program, business and risk management at a specific summer camp; Nashville Sail Camp, Camp Twigs at Bells Bend Beaman, Camp Twigs at Sanders Ferry or Mountain Bike Camp. Each camp has a unique program that requires a Director with passion and experience in that area.
Camp Directors key responsibilities are customer service, staff supervision and accountability, camper safety, quality program delivery and organizational/logistics management.
Requirements:
- Must be proficient in computer skills and related word processing, data management, and internet computer software including social networking sites.
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.

Executive Camp Director (year round, FT)
Leadership Academy is seeking an experienced Camp Director to grow our camps. We believe that outdoor play and exploration increases creativity, confidence, social-intelligence and grit. We operate six day camps that get kids outside to play, connect them to nature, teach recreation skills and develop a love and affinity for the outdoors. Under the direction of the CEO, the Executive Camp Director will provide overall supervision, leadership & management for key aspects of camp operations. Responsibilities include marketing, camper recruitment, staff recruitment, training & supervision; program planning, management & logistics; supply inventory & budget & equipment care; camper care & supervision, and customer service.
Spend your summer in an awesome, fun city while having flexibility to travel, study and work during the school year. This is a year-round hybrid position, remote-part-time during September-April,15-25 hours per week, Full-Time on-site in Nashville from May-August, 42-52 hours per week. Hourly pay + overtime, estimated annually $33,000-$43,000. Housing not included, but there is a small stipend for out-of-town staff for summer.
Qualifications & Prerequisite Skills: (Prior to first day of camp)
- 2-3 years of camp leadership experience, supervisory level preferred.
- Candidates must possess excellent communication, organization, and mediation skills. Individuals should be enthusiastic, diplomatic, flexible, trustworthy, self-motivated, creative, and able to take the initiative and follow through.
- Current CPR/First-Aid certification
- Must be proficient in computer skills and related word processing, data management, and Internet computer software including social networking sites.
- Prefer to have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
