Our Mountain Bike Camp is a great way to enjoy nature and improve skills. Camp options are available for all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. Qualified instructors teach bike maintenance and set-up, a variety of riding techniques, and lead trail ride to help campers learn a lifetime sport and improve their skills and confidence.
The camp day is set up with classroom sessions, skill assessments, drill practice, skill competency demonstration, hands-on bike work, trail rides and classic camp activities including games, songs, and crafts. Above all, we want campers to gain a love for cycling, learning, and healthy living. Mountain Bike Camp is a great way for your camper to be active, build community, learn enriching skills while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.

What to Bring:
- Mountain Bike
- Required safety gear: Helmet, gloves knee pads, elbow pads
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- and a plastic water bottle.
Mountain Biking is an extreme sport that requires proper gear and equipment including:
- Proper mountain bike
- Knee pads and elbow pads
We also recommend a full-face helmet, body armor, chest pads, and shin guards.
Campers must provide their own bike, helmet and required safety gear.
Time: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am-4:00 pm Drop-off begins at 8:45 am, Pick-up begins at 4:00 pm. (Before and aftercare is also available for Mountain Bike Camp from 7:45 am-5: 15 pm)
Location: Deep Well Trailhead, Percy Warner Park, Nashville, TN. Percy Warner Park’s 8 miles of trails and all kinds of interesting terrain to ride around and over.
Mountain Bike Camp
Who: For riders ages 9-13 with an interest in Mountain biking and has done less than 10 trail rides. Mountain bike trails are dirt paths with obstacles such as rocks, roots, and hills.
Campers will learn the basics of riding their mountain bike through skills development sessions, drills and then on the trails. In addition, they will learn about bike maintenance, bike set-up and a variety of riding skills to help them enjoy their riding even more. The camps are full of cycling activities that keep things fun and challenging. Campers will also get to participate in traditional camp activities too like crafts, games and nature education.
Camp kicks off with pre-ride bike check and set-up, and rider evaluation so the instructors can ensure each rider is safe and put in the proper riding group according to the comfort and skill level. This gives campers a chance to learn more about their bike and how it functions. Once campers are properly fitted on their mountain bikes, we teach fundamentals of bike control, body position, riding speed and overall cycling techniques. All of these skills are essential to give campers a chance to get accustomed to the terrain.
Beginning mountain bikers spend time doing technique lessons, drills and will ride the white and green level trails at Percy Warner Park. Each day will include a classroom/parking lot lesson, skill practice and competency demonstration BEFORE the group will hit the trails.
Mountain Bike Camp
Who: Riders ages 11-16 with some experience in Mountain biking (Has done more than 10 rides and comfortable on green level trails.)
Riders continue transitioning from basics of riding and maintaining their mountain bike to an intermediate level. The camps are full of cycling activities from skill drills, practice trials, short courses and trail rides that keep things fun and challenging. Campers will also get to participate in traditional camp activities too like crafts, games and nature education.
Safety first – so camp begins with rider and equipment assessments and skill checks. Then we move onto basic bike maintenance. Starting with a focus on bike set up, basic maintenance and safety offer a great foundation for the skills and techniques campers will learn throughout the week.
Once campers have demonstrated their safe riding skills and competency on beginner technique, we teach bike navigation, riding speed, body positioning, cornering, pumping, and braking skills which are essential to intermediate trail riding. The camp day will include skill development sessions, drills, and practices to ensure every ride will be ready and safe on the trails. Intermediate riders will spend most of the week on Green level trails and may graduate to Blue level when the riding group has demonstrated confidence and competency to level up.
Mountain Bike Camp
Who: Mountain Bike riders with more than a year of experience and confident on blue/intermediate level trails
Riders will complete a skill check and a bike set up session to ensure all riders are ready to be safe. While this group is experienced, there are still opportunities to learn and develop more skills from training with our professional instructor and coach. Camp Days will include skill drills, time trials, and practice sessions, along with trail rides on a variety of trail levels. Campers will ride in buddy pairs and the group will go as fast as the slowest rider to ensure we stay together and safe. Most time will be spent on blue level trails and learning to gain confidence on black level trails.
